Birth Matters is an intensive, one-evening course designed to teach the most essential skills and techniques for natural birth and labor to mom, dad and the labor support team. This workshop is ideally suited for second time families who would like to devote an evening to honoring this pregnancy and baby or for first time families as an addition to another childbirth series. First time parents exploring their options welcome as well! This workshop is mindful of the birth experience as a powerful and often life-changing experience. The use of medical interventions, such as pain medications, are always an option. During Birth Matters, we will learn the skills necessary to give birth with joy and confidence. Childbirth Education is intended to help the pregnant couple learn to create a safe, joyful, positive environment and birth experience, laying the best possible foundation for successful breast-feeding and bonding for mom, dad and baby. We will review the birth process. We will also practice relaxation, visualization, massage, breathing and various positions for comfort with lots of hands-on practice. This one-session evening will also include beautiful and inspiring birth films, demonstrating the transformational potential of the birth experience! About the Instructor Natural Childbirth Educator Tracy Schmidt is an experienced Childbirth Educator, Doula, mother of 5 and grandmother of fourteen. She has been teaching prenatal and postpartum programs on the Santa Barbara area for over 35 years and has worked with more than 3,500 families.
